Less Minimal than Minimal

Less Minimal than Minimal

John Pawson and Takao Shiotsuka Atelier:
Less Minimal than Minimal

How can you experience the most extreme lack of objects and colors while conveying the feeling of comfort, hospitality, and living in a home monastery? Minimalist brings peace over stimulation overload, spirituality over materialism, essentialism over superfluous objects, bare spaces over crowded rooms, meditation over worried thoughts. When I get home, I want to retreat to a stark white sanctuary, ideally conceived by John Pawson or Takao Shiotsuka. If not, I can at least use some of the same principles to create the impression of purity, space, tranquility, and harmony in my home.

Minimalism is not for everyone.  Judge for yourself.
